The Gendarmenmarkt christmas market
Today at lunchtime we dropped by with the people of the office to the Gendarmenmarkt to try a little of its christmas specialties. The food was superb (I had some pumpkin soup with whipped cream and then a currywurst with fries and glühwein) and I must confess that it is the best christmas food I tried so far here in town.
The beauty of the place was for me the monumental architecture of the two churches, the opera building and the statues partially covered in snow, with some ornaments discretely put (including a disco ball) and the nice vibe of the people trying some food and keeping themselves warm and cozy with their loved ones. The stands were superb and the products sold there were very clever in all sense (I even saw a wooden version of the Berlin TV tower as a kids game). The ornaments sold would drive anybody crazy. I totally recommend you that if you are in Berlin in the holidays to pay a visit to the place.
All photos taken by me and posted straight out of the camera.
